TIPS FOR NEW PIERCINGS
Maintaining a clean sleeping environment is essential for preventing infection and promoting proper healing. For ear and facial piercings, place a clean T-shirt over your pillow and change it regularly until your pillowcase has been washed. This helps minimize the transfer of bacteria to your fresh piercing and reduces irritation from fabrics or oils on your pillow.
Cell phones can carry a large amount of bacteria, similar to hands that have not been washed. Avoid pressing your phone against your piercing during the healing process. If you must use your phone near the piercing, ensure your hands and device are clean beforehand.
Avoid submerging a new piercing in water, as it can introduce harmful bacteria and increase the risk of infection. Do not expose fresh piercings to pools, hot tubs, lakes, rivers, oceans, or standing water. The only safe liquids for cleaning or rinsing your piercing are running tap water or sterile saline. When rinsing, gently allow water to flow over the piercing without forcing it into the wound.
Avoid sleeping directly on your new piercing, as pressure can slow healing, cause irritation, or even damage the piercing. Travel pillows or donut-shaped pillows are highly recommended. Instead of wearing the pillow around your neck, rest your ear in the center opening of the pillow to provide support and protect the piercing while you sleep.
Healing can sometimes bring questions or concerns. Please do not hesitate to contact us via email with any inquiries. Our team is highly responsive and dedicated to ensuring your piercing heals safely and comfortably.
PIERCING AFTERCARE
AVOID TOUCHING YOUR NEW PIERCING:
Refrain from touching your piercing, as doing so can transfer bacteria directly into an open wound. This increases the risk of infection and may require medical attention.AVOID TWISTING, MOVING, OR ROTATING YOUR JEWELRY:
Manipulating the jewelry disrupts the healing process and damages regenerating tissue. Allow your body to heal naturally without interference.PAIN OR DISCOMFORT:
If any action or activity causes pain or discomfort, adjust your approach accordingly. Avoid sleeping on your new piercing, even if it does not currently hurt. Be mindful when changing clothes or using towels to prevent them from catching on your jewelry.SALINE CARE:
During healing, your body will produce exudate (not pus) that may harden into a scab-like crust. This is a normal part of the healing process. Do not pick at it. Instead, let warm water rinse over the area during your shower, then use a sterile saline spray to gently encourage the crust to loosen. If any residue remains, leave it—this indicates it is not ready to come off. Picking can cause irritation or bumps. If you have concerns, please contact us for a checkup.HEALING GUIDELINES:
Your body is designed to heal wounds naturally. We strongly advise against using harsh chemicals such as hydrogen peroxide, alcohol, soaps, essential oils, or ointments, as these can impede healing. Our recommended aftercare includes using clean running water and/or a body-neutral sterile saline wound wash, followed by leaving the piercing undisturbed. Support your body’s healing by maintaining a healthy diet, staying hydrated, and getting adequate rest.CHECKUP:
A follow-up appointment is essential. Your piercer will assess the healing progress and determine whether the jewelry needs to be downsized. Failing to downsize when appropriate can delay healing and lead to complications. Please schedule a checkup 4–8 weeks after your initial piercing to ensure optimal healing.
